I want to increase its curb appeal and create more balance. |

| Example of Advice Dear Peter, As per the drawing attached I would make the following changes to the front of your house to give it more visual appeal. Add caps to the pillars on the brick wall. Replace railing on deck with black aluminum and glass railing. Replace lattice under deck with a vertical wood panel detail that will be mirrored on raised beds to the left. Add architectural detail by adding raised beds across the front of the house. Add a black iron lattice piece to be placed in the raised bed in front of the chimney. Replace shrub on left side of the house with a tall columnar growing tree to balance the height of the chimney. Add a flower bed that incorporates the columnar tree and swoops in front of the raised bed and continues on the other side of the walk in front of the deck. Plant low growing plant material that will provide interest but will not hide the painted wood detail behind. Replace trailing shrub that grows over the front of the brick wall with a trailing deciduous shrub or perennial. This will still soften the brick edge but will provide contrast to the round pruned evergreen behind. Paint wood raised beds and wood detail below deck BM HC-85 Fairview taupe. This color looks great with the brick and the eaves trough. In addition to the black lattice and deck railing accents s iron paint the front door and mailbox black. You will change the look of your home by incorporating the above changes. Good Luck! |
